Invisalign®
Did you know that Dr. Gibson was a member of the 12 doctor research team that developed Invisalign? He worked on the "alpha" experimental research team in Silicon Valley for 6 years during the 1990's and early 2000's designing patient protocols and techniques that allowed the Invisalign concept to become a reality. Dr. Gibson has used this effective treatment system since the day it was thought of in a research lab.
Imagine an orthodontic treatment that doesn't use wires or metal brackets, a treatment that is very comfortable and doesn't require you to change your current lifestyle. With Invisalign, you can straighten your teeth and experience the benefits of a great smile without anyone knowing! Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable, comfortable aligners that straighten teeth often in less time than traditional braces.
Clarity™ Clear Braces
Orthodontic treatment no longer means having only metal braces as a treatment option. Clarity Advanced braces are an aesthetic alternative to traditional metal braces. Clarity braces are clear, small in size, and customized to fit your teeth and mouth. They mimic the color of your enamel so that it is very difficult to see the braces on your teeth. Clarity braces are safe and effective, and are a great option for patients of all ages.
Metal Braces
Metal braces are highly effective for correcting orthodontic problems. Contemporary metal braces are much smaller and smoother than those in the past. They also come with colors which can be cahnged at every appointment which is fun!
Self Ligating Braces
Self ligating braces are specialized and can be used for treating patients long distance (or locally) with fewer appointements that are spaced further apart. When treatment is carefully designedand administered, patients can go 3-4 months without seeing Dr. Gibson. We monitor these patients frequently via iphone photos to make sure their treatment is tracking normally. Dr. Gibson has patients on the East Coast, West Coast, Europe, and other locations being treated with this protocol so that they do not have to return to San Antonio as often for check-ups!
Lingual Invisible Braces
Lingual braces mount behind the teeth and are invisble when talking and smiling. Dr. Gibson has been successfully using lingual braces for over 25 years. It is suprisingly easy to talk with ligual braces and the average patient adjust nicley. If you need braces and don't want them to show at all, this may be an option.
Dentofacial Orthopedics
What is dentofacial orthopedics? Many patients wonder what it means when their orthodontist specializes in dentofacial orthopedics. This specialization means that your doctor has training and experience in working with the management of tooth movement (orthodontics) as well as the guidance of facial growth and development (dentofacial orthopedics), which usually occurs during childhood.
Craniofacial Orthodontics for Facial Deformities and Cleft Palate
This is a sub-specialized area of orthodontics that Dr. Gibson has extensive expertise with. Multidisciplinary team treatment is focused on correcting these deformaties so that function and facial esthetics are normalized. Dr. Gibson has worked for the University of Florida Craniofacial Team, and FACES Craniofacial Team, and currently is appointed with the University Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial Team. Millions of Americans suffer from chronic face and neck pains as well as recurring headaches. These can all be signs of a TMD/TMJ condition that may require treatment. Surgical Orthodontics
Orthodontics is designed to reposition and straighten teeth, but surgical orthodontics may be needed in some cases to correct more severe jaw irregularities. Surgical orthodontics is used to straighten the jaw into alignment, often improving a patient's ability to chew, speak, and breathe. There are often amazing aesthetic facial changes also. Braces are often worn in conjunction with orthodontic surgery to make sure the teeth stay in the proper position as well.
